Turkish national swimmer will try to cover 113 km distance from Turkey to TRNC

Turkish national swimmer, Alper Sunacoglu, who earlier wished to swim the 360 km distance between Turkey's coastal Kusadasi town and the Greek capital of Athens due to numerous bureaucratic and financial problems, is now getting ready to swim from Turkey to Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

In his new attempt he will try to cover 113 km distance between Turkey’s southern coastal town Anamur and TRNC’s Grime region in less than 30 hours. He wanted to break the previous record of the swimmer Ersin Aydin, who covered the same distance in 34 hours in 1974.

Sunacoglu will depart from the Turkey’s Anamaur town, today at 10 am. While talking to reporters he said that he was planning to swim to Athens but due to some administrative problems he decided to move to Cyprus’s Grim. He said his target would be to cover the distance in 26-27 hours and without a cage unlike the previous record holder.
