Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu strongly reacted against Greek Cypriot’s attitude over hooligans attack on the basket ball team members.

The Foreign Minister said that the proper security measures were not taken into consideration and people showed lack of peace culture in them.
 

Davutoglu also said that the administration of Greek Cypriot did not take the matter very seriously and just condemning the incident does not give satisfaction to the sufferers. He further said that the chaos got uncontrolled in a very less time, which showed that security measures were not sufficient.
 

Davutoglu said Turkish government on the other hand was fast to react and took instant action. Turkish government immediately launched international initiatives to make sure the safety of Turkish basketball team, and even approached the UN.

 

"Peace and brotherhood should be paramount in Sports games...It appears the culture of peace has not yet taken root in the Greek Cypriot Administration. Emergence of such a situation where security is neglected, shows Greek Cypriot Administration have not reached international standards yet. We have appealed to the UN (about the attack). We will continue to follow up on this issue. This is unacceptable" said Davutoglu.
