FIFA has suspended Nigeria Football Federation from international contest because of government interference in the game.

FIFA does not allow any government interference to the members and during the time of suspension the “NFF will not be able to be represented in any regional, continental or international competitions, including at club level, and also not in friendly matches," the Fifa statement added.

FIFA said the ban was made because of a proposal by Nigeria's Minister of Sports to resume the league without relegations from the previous season.

The NFF has been facing controversies since the team's elimination in the first round of the World Cup in South Africa in June.
