UN will take decision in March about Cyprus
UNSG Ban-Ki-Moon said that Special Advisor Alexander Downer will assess the Cyprus progress in March. Downer said that the meeting was positive.
Ban-Ki-Moon was asked about the progress made in the meeting and he said, ''Cypriot-led and Cypriot-owned’, he denied to give much information about the meeting but saying it ‘confidential’.
Ban said ‘confidential’ term is very important in Cyprus matter and he also expressed this to both the leaders of Cyprus- “please keep confidentiality.”
UNSG said that yet no agreement is made. But, yes the leaders will be exchanging important data within two weeks. On citizenship matter he said that ''there has been an increase in population on both sides''.
Referring to the issue of the so called ''isolation'' of the Turkish Cypriots, he said that ''the Turkish Cypriots are suffering from all these hardships. The sooner they agree, I think the sooner people will be able to enjoy the social and economic opportunities. That is my goal and my vision''.
