Yiannakis Omirou called on the international and European communities to give comment on Turkish threat over Cyprus sovereign rights.

Omirou was address parliamentary session by saying “to send the message that Turkey must at last abide by international and European law rules and to stop behaving as the troublemaker of the region”.

Omirou also welcomed OSCE’s Parliamentary Assembly President Petros Efthymiou who is on his visit to Cyprus.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry commented that new licensing round in the area could lead to tension in the region.

While Cyprus government has always stated that they have sovereign right to explore and North Cyprus will also be benefitted by this exploration.
