Downer gave information about first day meeting in Green tree

The UNSG Special Adviser on Cyprus gave details about the Green Tree meeting. Downer said that the leaders will be concentrating in the three main issues such as executive, property and citizenship.

 

Downer said, ‘I think the best way to describe the talks today is that they have been intensive right from the very beginning with the heavy focus on core issues.’

 

About Tuesday’s schedule he said that there will be working lunch and they will be conducting meeting throughout the afternoon.

 

Downer said, ‘'There is clearly still ground to cover in order to make for a successful outcome for this meeting and we look forward to a constructive day tomorrow.''

 

  Downer said, ''there has been intense discussion on these issues and we hope as we move to tomorrow that the discussion of today will help create the foundation for convergences,'' noting that ''lots of different ideas have been canvassed backwards and forwards.''
