The US Commission on International Religious Freedom, Archbishop Demetrios wrote a letter to Hillary Clinton, American Minister of Foreign Affairs. In letter Demetrios talked about the incident of Agios Synesios, in Rizokarpaso (North Cyprus).

During Christmas, the police entered in the Church of Saint Sinesios and stopped the worship activities because “the government had not granted the congregation permission for the service.”

Hillary Clinton thanked Archbishop Demetrios for bringing the incident into notice. She assured him that US embassy in Nicosia will contact the religious leaders of Cyprus, the Greek community and the Turk community.
