Tacoy addresses House of Lords meeting

TURKISH Republic of North Cyprus Transport minister Hasan Tacoy addressed a meeting at the House of Lords on Tuesday evening.
Mr Tacoy addressed the meeting hosted by Lord Maginnis of Drumglass after TRNC Foreign Affairs minister Huseyin Ozgurgun – who was due to address the meeting - could not attend due to poor weather in Turkey where he was flying from.
Over 100 guests, including Lords, diplomats, politicians, Turkish Community representatives and business people attended the meeting at the House of Lords.
Mr Tacoy briefly delved into the history of Cyprus problem and the current situation, and answered questions from the guests.
Mr Tacoy said that there should be a call to Greek Cypriots that if the negotiations continue for too long, it will be yet another disappointment for other countries trying to help the Cyprus issue.
If the negotiations ultimately fail, Mr Tacoy said other plans are in the pipeline but this was not the time and place to talk about them.
The minister also highlighted the important role the Turkish Cypriots abroad have and said "They are really important to us and that is why Foreign Affairs set up an association for them. Hopefully next year, we will start dealing with a way of getting them to vote in the TRNC and also how to stand for election,  especially for them.
