Nicosia air is polluted

NICOSIA AIR IS POLLUTED...The measurements made by the Nicosia Environmental Agency show that the air pollution in our country is still 45% above the EU standards. The average daily standard dust amount is 50 µg/m³ (microgram metercubes) and exceeding this amount at most 35 times a year is considered as normal. However in the measurements made in Nicosia, the results show that it exceeded the EU standards in 109 days out of 238 days for the first 8 months of 2009.

 Air pollution caused by dust especially affects children, heart, cancer and asthma patients in a negative way. Infantile diseases, health and cardiology specialist Dr. Suphi Hudaoglu draws attention to the negative effects of air pollution and says that breathing poisonous gases may cause serious health problems.
