Hunger strike at north Cyprus prison

Inmates at the main prison in the occupied areas of Nicosia have gone on hunger strike.

53 more inmates have joined the hunger strike that was started on Thursday in protest at the prison authorities.

Inmates started a hunger strike with the claim that they have not received a reply to their demands for more freedoms and rights.

Speaking on Turkish Cypriot radio the ‘Deputy Director’ of ‘Nicosia Central Prison’ Arif Yırık said that 53 inmates have recently refused to take their food to support the strike.
