The founder leader of Turkish Cypriot Rauf Denktash, gave public appearance first time after getting discharged from hospital last month. Denktash did not meet general public from 93 days. He visited the Near East University hospital to thanks doctors and after that went to meet his son Serdar to his office.

The 87-year-old politician had a partial paralysis on May 24. After his first surgery in Northern Cyprus, he underwent another operation at Ankara's GATA on August 25.

Denktash has been an important figure in Turkish community of Cyprus for more than 50 years. Mr Denktash became ‘President of the Turkish Federated State of Cyprus in 1974.

He declared independence a decade later and became president of ‘Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ which is recognised only by Turkey, in 1983.
