On World Cancer Day Dr. Charitini Tsangari said that breast cancer is most common form of cancer in Cypriot women.

Dr. said self examination and then early diagnosis has increased the chances of patients’ survival. He said, ‘‘It has been scientifically proven that the possibilities of survival from breast cancer are increased with timely diagnosis, treatment and therapy.''

80% of Cypriot women confessed that like other European women they don’t have hesitation in self examination as it is prevalent in Middle East countries.

Furthermore, although 25% had a family history of breast cancer on the mother's side and 3.7% had a personal diagnosis of the disease, only 13% believed they were at risk. 42% women don’t take breast cancer seriously, 46% are not sure about their proper self examination test and 22% are not confident enough to do so.
