6 dead in suspected immigrant boat accident
Police in northern Greece say six bodies have been recovered from the sea or have washed up on the shore following a suspected boat accident involving illegal immigrants.
Two bodies were found Monday and four at the weekend near Alexandroupoli, a city in northeastern Greece, near the border with Turkey. No identification documents were found on any of the bodies – four men and two women, all adults.
Thousands of illegal immigrants, mostly from Asian and African countries, cross illegally from Turkey to Greece each year, seeking entry into the European Union
