Malpas Hotel

The 5-star Malpas Hotel and Casino, a popular and well-known North Cyprus hotel, is located close to the charming village of Catalkoy, on the outskirts of vibrant and historic Kyrenia in Northern Cyprus. Just 20 minutes from Ercan International airport or one hour from Larnaca airport, guests can relax in stunning surroundings, with the magnificent Beshparmak (Five Finger) mountains and clear Mediterranean Sea as a perfect backdrop.
Facilities at the Malpas Hotel include an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, and a Well Being Spa which includes a sauna, Jacuzzi, Turkish baths and fully equipped gym. For the ultimate relaxation, beauticians offer a wide choice of massages such as aroma therapy and stone massages, as well as manicures and pedicures. There is also a hair dressing salon on site.
For those who like a spot of gambling during their holiday in Northern Cyprus, there is also a casino, offering free snacks and drinks for clients. For golf lovers there is an 18-hole course, the Korineum, just 15 minutes away by car; golf packages are available from the hotel including golf fees, accommodation and transfers to the golf course.
Entertainment is provided on a regular basis although many guests prefer to visit bustling Kyrenia in the evening, a short drive away, as the Malpas is a 15-minute walk to the nearest shops, bars and restaurants. It is to be noted though, that the hotel also hosts many functions such as weddings and other events which can cause minor disruption to guests.
Guests can enjoy hot and cold buffet breakfasts with plenty of choice. In the evening, there is an extensive buffet as well as freshly cooked food from an a la carte menu, and the local wine is regarded as good value by many guests.
There are several different room types to choose from, all clean and comfortable, with many rooms offering stunning sea views. The least inexpensive are the superior rooms and diamond court rooms, which enjoy a balcony for relaxing in the evening, but if you want to splash out you can go for a suite, with separate sitting room and Jacuzzi bath, or a spacious Pearl bungalow.
From the many Cyprus hotel reviews available on the internet, it is clear the Malpas is a popular choice. Guests loved the views from the hotel, the friendly service from the staff and the wide range of leisure facilities. However if you want to be located right on a sandy beach, the Malpas may not be as suitable as it is a short distance from the beach. The hotel does offer regular buses to the beach but you should note that it is man-made not natural sand. Many guests decide to hire a car to explore the many natural beaches around this beautiful area.
With the extensive facilities on offer, you need never leave the hotel if you don’t want to! But if you can tear yourself away from the hotel, the bustling and delightful town of Kyrenia is less than a 10-minute drive away. Although there is a free shuttle available during the day from the Malpas Hotel to Kyrenia, many guests prefer the flexibility of car hire North Cyprus so that they can more easily access nearby facilities and restaurants as well as explore the many attractions in Northern Cyprus.
In short, if you are looking for a luxury hotel, with excellent leisure and spa facilities to keep the whole family entertained, and at a value for money price, the Malpas Hotel and Casino might very well be the one you are looking for.
Colony Hotel North Cyprus
If you are looking for an elegant and prestigious hotel in the heart of downtown Kyrenia in Northern Cyprus, then the 5 star Colony Hotel, owned by the Arkin group, may be your hotel of choice. Suitable for both the business and leisure traveller, the Colony offers spacious and luxurious accommodation combined with friendly and discreet service. It is on the higher end of the price scale compared to other North Cyprus hotels, but from the Cyprus hotel reviews it is well worth the money.
The Colony Hotel is perfect for those who prefer to be in the centre of town, as it is a very short walk to the bars, restaurants and shops of Kyrenia, as well as the attractions such as the castle and harbour. Although not a typical beach hotel, the Colony offers a free bus service to a nearby beach. If you decide on car hire, this will give you the best of both worlds – a hotel in the heart of the town, with the added flexibility of easy access to the gorgeous beaches and tourist attractions that Northern Cyprus has to offer.
Room sizes vary from the Club Rooms through to the Residence Suite, Continental Suite and Colony Suite, and prices are reflected accordingly, but all are equipped to a very high standard, with colonial style décor and air conditioning. Some rooms have sea views, while others overlook the town or a neighbouring car park, so it is worth trying to get a room with a view!
The hotel is also equipped with a spa and wellness centre, which includes a Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and solarium, as well as a fully equipped gym with personal trainers on hand. There are also a wide range of massages available such as Swedish, sports and deep tissue.
There is a superb rooftop area, offering excellent views of the town and countryside, with a terrace bar and fabulous outdoor pool, where loungers and towels are available for guests. It is to be noted that some rooms on the upper floors may experience a higher level of noise at certain times due to the live music and other events which take place on the rooftop area at weekends, which can last until the early hours of the morning.
There are three dining choices, the elegant a la carte Premier restaurant, the informal Courtyard Piazza or the panoramic roof top Vista terrace. The hotel also prides itself on its extensive and varied wine cellar, with wines from all over the world as well as, of course, from Turkey!
For the gamblers at heart there is an exclusive casino offering slot machines and table games including roulette and blackjack.
To conclude, if your ideal accommodation is an elegant and glamorous hotel, in the vibrant centre of Kyrenia, with easy access to the town and everything it has to offer, then the Colony Hotel might be an excellent choice for your holiday or business trip to Northern Cyprus.
Acapulco Hotel North Cyprus
The Acapulco Hotel in Northern Cyprus is an excellent choice for families in search of a beach holiday. Located on a sandy beach spanning one kilometre near the lovely village of Catalkoy, this holiday village offers a wide range of facilities for adults and kids alike.
There is plenty to keep the kid amused, with an out-size swimming pool (said to be the biggest in Northern Cyprus!) and aqua park. There are also plenty of activities on the beach, with jet skiing, water skiing, windsurfing and canoeing among the options on offer at an extra charge. When they get tired of the water there is also table tennis, tennis, volleyball and tennis within the hotel grounds.
The hotel facilities also make it very easy for the mums and dads to enjoy some relaxation too! There is a kids club to give them some much needed time to themselves, so that they can take advantage of the extensive leisure facilities. There is a fully equipped fitness and health centre, sauna, Jacuzzi and Turkish bath.
Those in search of nightlife are also catered for – in addition to the restaurants and bars within the grounds, there is an English pub, open air disco and even a casino for the adventurous.
If this is not enough to keep the whole family occupied for a week or two, why not try car hire, as lovely, historic Kyrenia is only a 10-minute drive away, with its charming harbour, castle and remains left by the many civilisations that passed though such as the Venetians and the Crusaders. There are many other attractions within easy drive of the Acapulco Holiday Resort such as the Crusader castles of Kantara, St. Hilarion and Buffavento, not forgetting of course the beautiful mountainous scenery that dominates the area.
Ercan airport is just 30 minutes away so the hotel is easy to reach either by transfer or car hire. Alternatively Larnaca airport is just a 90-minute drive.
From the many Cyprus hotel reviews, the Acapulco is a very popular hotel to stay for both couples and families. The basic hotel rooms can accommodate up to 3 people and have balconies enjoying mountain or sea views. The deluxe bungalows can take up to 4 people and overlook the gardens. If you really want to push the boat out, there are also larger VIP suites with excellent sea views and Jacuzzi baths. Breakfast and buffet dinner is included with all room rates which can make budgeting your holiday far easier, although this may not be suitable for you if you prefer to eat a la carte or to dine outside of the hotel complex. Compared to some other Northern Cyprus hotels, the Acapulco is reasonably priced, especially since the food is included.
Taking everything into account, the Acapulco Holiday Resort is well worth placing on your short list of hotels in Northern Cyprus if you are looking for a family hotel with great beach facilities and plenty of things to do to keep the whole family occupied. Just don’t forget to venture out of the hotel sometimes as it would be a shame to miss everything that Northern Cyprus has to offer!
Cratos Premium Hotel
5-star luxury hotel the Cratos Premium Hotel is one of the newest of the North Cyprus hotels, having opened in July 2010. The facilities include Jacuzzi, Turkish bath, sauna, detox centre and fitness centre, plus a spa centre offering top international treatments and massages. The casino is a state-of-the-art complex with the latest technology and equipment, including Smart Card technology.
Other facilities include an indoor swimming pool, ball room, tennis courts and water sports. Business facilities are also a focus, with 14 meeting rooms equipped with the latest technology.
Whilst the Cratos is clearly a luxury hotel, children have not been forgotten. There is also a children’s club to keep the kids entertained while mum and dad take advantage of all the facilities on offer!
There are 410 guest rooms, including standard, superior and suites. Suites include Junior Presidential Suite and Presidential Suites, both with Jacuzzis, as well as King Suites with private terrace and spa baths! As you would expect from a luxury hotel, all rooms are air-conditioned and feature the latest technology such as pay per view LCD TV, mini bars and wireless internet. There are many packages available from tour operators which include flights and accommodation, and it is understood that the hotel will be offering promotional pricing in the first few months.
As well as the huge choice of restaurants in the port area, there are buffet and a la carte restaurants in the hotel, as well as many bars including the Irish Pub, Vitamin Bar and Bowling Bar. The Cratos Hotel also houses many luxury, top brand shops.
The Cratos is situated in the quaint and typically Northern Cyprus village of Catalkoy, a 10-minute drive from the port of Kyrenia. The location is an excellent base for exploring this part of Northern Cyprus, and Catalkoy is already a popular destination for holiday makers as there are several 4 and 5 star hotels in the area. Many guests choose car hire as the most flexible way to get around the area and explore the many attractions, as hiring a car is an inexpensive option compared to many other countries.

Pia Bella Hotel
The Pia Bella Hotel is a family-run 4-star hotel located within walking distance of the centre of the town of Kyrenia in Northern Cyprus. Historic Kyrenia is a popular destination for holiday makers who just love Kyrenia Castle, built in the Byzantine period, and the charming harbour, dotted with restaurants and bars.
Facilities at the Bella Pia Hotel include two outdoor freshwater swimming pools, equipped with sunbeds and free towels, a private football pitch, billiards and darts. There is also a Thai masseuse resident in the hotel and evening entertainment is provided during the summer.
As the Pia Bella is a town hotel, it is not located directly next to a beach – the nearest beach is a 10-minute drive, so if you are looking for beach facilities you may want to consider car hire, which can easily be booked in advance, and at a reasonable price, on the internet or through the hotel. Car hire is also essential if you wish to make the most of your stay in Northern Cyprus and explore the many attractions that the island has to offer such as Vouni Castle, the ancient city of Soli and the wild and beautiful Karpaz Peninsula.
The clean and spacious accommodation comprises of standard rooms, superior rooms, triple rooms, family and interconnecting rooms. The superior rooms are larger than the standard rooms and also have balconies for enjoying the balmy Northern Cyprus evenings outside. It is to be noted that the superior rooms look out onto the pool or garden, some with mountain views, while the standard rooms overlook the town or street, so it may be worth paying extra for a superior room.
There are two restaurants and four bars as well as the informal Café Bella, although many guests choose to take advantage of the many bars and restaurants in Kyrenia. The hotel is a 15 to 20-minute walk to the centre of Kyrenia, although many people decide to walk there and take a taxi back, as the price is quite reasonable.
From the various Cyprus hotel reviews, guests consider that the Pia Bella Hotel is good value for money and many people like the informal and friendly atmosphere. This, together with the flexible accommodation options and leisure facilities makes it a popular choice with visitors to Northern Cyprus..
In short, if you prefer a traditional beach holiday, with extensive children’s facilities then the Pia Bella may not be the most suitable choice for you. However it is an ideal choice for people looking for a friendly North Cyprus hotel close to the centre of Kyrenia, but offering spacious and clean accommodation and good facilities.
