Greek Cyprus Foreign Minister Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis said in an interview,” we cannot accept the 200 or 300 thousand settlers who have come illegally to the areas during the last 37 years. They have to leave.”

She said that it had been a part of discussion during Cyprus negotiation but Turkey’s interference is much in this aspect. 

In the beginning of this year Cyprus discussed the vexed issue with EU Parliament and asked for restricting influx of Turkish nationals.

Dervis Eroglu also had discussion on it and is at pressure to stop the uncontrolled immigration. He even regarded the figure of 45,000 to 50,000 as absurd and clarified that many thousands of Turkish Cypriots are married with people from Turkey who have children now.
