The second round of exploration got licence and Cyprus hopes to overcome European financial crisis with the product of drilling. The drilling is increasing tension between neighbour country Turkey and Cyprus.

On Monday a notice was published on the website of Cypriot Commerce Minister in which applications were invited within 90 days to start with second round of drilling.  The drilling area is 19,700 square mile (51,000 square kilometer) in EEZ towards coast.

The first round of drilling was successfully done by US Company Noble Energy. Cypriot is interested in second round of drilling as first drilling dig out was so huge and termed as ‘historic’ by them.

The Cyprus government is currently finding the means to arrange piping the gas to the island to meet to fulfil domestic energy
