Cyprus airways in a statement assured that they are not facing any financial problem. They discarded yesterdays statement broadcasted on local television and welcomed travellers for their fly. The airways assured that they will ‘fly for many years’.

Airlines stated, “CY call on the travelling public to completely ignore the dispersion of irresponsible information and rumours that closure of Cyprus’ national carrier was imminent.”

Yesterdays talks on the future of Airlines were kicked off and they are not finding any partner for financial support. Cyprus Airlines presently comprises 69% authority of the company and  faced loss of 30 million euros in the first half of 2011.

Government spokesperson Stephanou said, ‘“What we are discussing now is to find a strategic investor or an investor. The way this is going to be done and what interest has been expressed until now is something the Finance Ministry is dealing with.”
